Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room - Disneyland

Today is the first Disneyland Monday.  I've sadly only been to Disneyland once way back in 2007.  While I still have plenty of stuff to post for Walt Disney World, I thought it would be nice to throw something different in once a week.  Today's post is for the original Enchanted Tiki Room.

  1. Is it just me, or is this one more lush and ornate? Then again, it was raining the day I went at Disney World. So, we may not have lingered long outside to take in the exterior.

Does the Disneyland one have the erupting volcano window view effect?

  2. In answer to the first question I will say yes and no. There's does have a lot of detail and ornamentation that ours does not have. That being said, ours is much grander in scale and much of the ornamentation is higher up or further away from the passerby do it's hard to make a true comparison. Everything at Disneyland is so much intimate plus their version was built during the height of popularity of polynesian pop culture.

Second question: I believe so, it's hard to remember.

  3. Never having been to Disneyland, I have a hard time imagining what it must be like confined to a limited space, as opposed to WDW with its several parks, numerous resorts, and additional attractions surrounded by plenty of land to continue developing for decades.

  4. So many people tried to prepare me for the different feel of Disneyland (as if I knew nothing about the park) so I wouldn't be surprised when I got there. It's such a different feeling from Florida's MK that I hate to even compare the two. It's interesting to note the differences that are created by the necessity of cramming things into a smaller place and it makes for some really interesting sights in the park. Plus there's just a feeling of history that you don't get in Florida. You see things and you say to yourself, "Walt sat on that bench!" Or whatever. I'm not saying it's better or worse, just different and interesting. Perhaps one of these days I'll bring over a dvd with some 60's Disneyland on it to give you a feel for the park.
