Fantasyland

Here are several pictures from the area in and around the Fantasyland Skyway station.  This area certainly has a European village feel and the Skyway station offers a picturesque rural backdrop after the concrete tunnel of the area between It's A Small World and Peter Pan's Flight.

Looking towards It's A Small World and Pinocchio Village Haus from up near the Skyway station.

This shot is actually from a Skyway bucket as it's leaving the station.  In the center background you can see the top of the Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland.

The gardens around the Skyway station were always beautiful and serene.

Cantina de San Angel

The Cantina is located on the shores of the World Showcase Lagoon and is a great place to sit, relax and have a frozen margarita.  Mmmm, I think I could use one right now.

Wonders Of Life

The Wonders of Life was never one of my favorite pavilions.  I remember being very excited before it opened (especially about Body Wars).  The novelty quickly wore off and I rarely visited there again.  I did, however, enjoy Cranium Command.  The attractions in the pavilion included:  The Making of Me - "The mysterious, wonderful and often funny process of pregnancy and birth is explored in this film, which features spectacular scientific footage of a developing fetus."  Goofy About Health - "Disney's favorite character cavorts across seven screens in a cartoon city street, demonstrating the do's and dont's of good health."  AnaComical Players - "Humorous improvisational skits themed to heath-related topics."  Body Wars - "Science fiction and science fact merge with state-of-the-art simulator technology to propel you on a thrilling ride through the human body."  And Cranium Command - "Climb inside the head of a 12-year-old boy as he negotiates his way through a typical day.  Presiding over this light-hearted look at the relationship between mind and body is Buzzy, an Audio-Animatronics Cranium Commando earning his stripes."  There were also a variety of interactive health and fitness exhibits.  (attraction descriptions came from the January 1990 EPCOT guidebook.

Goofy About Health

There were several different environments that you could cycle through on the Lifecycles.  One traveled through Disneyland.  The one on the screen here looks like a parade.

WDW Playing Cards

This deck of playing cards come to us from the 1970's.  I've included one of the Joker cards.  The Jokers are the only cards that are different from any other deck of cards.  All the others are quite ordinary.  The back of the cards features a beutiful rendering of Cinderella Castle which I believe is from a painting by Herb Ryman.

Dixie Landings Resort Open Mouse Guide

I got this large guide when Dixie Landings held an open house of the resort prior to its opening in 1992.  There was a self-guided tour of the resort and guest rooms, characters greetings, snacks and I can't remember what else.  At this time only the first phase of the resort, Alligator Bayou, was complete.  The second phase, Magnolia Bend (plantations), was still under construction.  Now this resort is named Port Orleans Riverside.

The Soundstage Restaurant - Where Dining is Big Business

The Soundstage Restaurant was a quick service food location.  This exterior picture is from 1989 or 1990.  During this time period the interior featured Plaza Hotel sets from the Bette Midler/Lilly Tomlin film Big Business.  This look remained until the interior was rethemed to Beauty and the Beast in 1991.

German Mickey

Some merchandise from the Germany pavillion at EPCOT from the early 90's featuring Mickey in lederhosen.

Jar with lid between 4 and 5 inches tall and 3 1/2 to 4r inches in diameter.

This is about the right size to use as a toothick holder or maybe a shot glass.

This is just slightly smaller than the last object but with a flared rim.

Mr. Dairy Goods

One of my most prized posessions is this Mr. Dairy Goods creamer that I purchased at the Broccoli and Co. store outside of the Kitchen Kabaret probably sometime around 1990.  I believe they sold a couple of other characters in ceramic as well but unfortunately this is the only piece I obtained.  I wanted to photograph him in the refrigerator but that would have required lots of reorganization and setup so instead i did it on the stovetop where one should never leave a carton of milk sitting.
