Not sure exactly when I picked this up.  I would guess in the early 90's.

Creative Costuming

One of the first segments of the tram portion of the Backlot Tour was always Creative Costuming.  Here, in addition to watching costumes be created, one could view garments from the most recent (and sometimes not-so-recent) Disney productions on display.

Julie Andrews' Jolly Holiday Outfit from Mary Poppins (which would later be displayed in the AFI Showcase).

The Lottery

Originally a segment of the walking part of the tour, The Lottery was a short film starring Bette Midler.  After viewing the film there was a short making of video and a walk through props and sets from the film.  This segment with the props and sets was housed in what is now the entrance to One Man's Dream.  Not the best quality but you can see the video on Vimeo with a little historical reference at the beginning.  I had previously seen a better version on line but could not find it for this post.

Catastrophe Canyon

With the Backlot Tour being just a shadow of its former self these days, I never find myself taking it.  This is a shame because I really used to love Catastrophe Canyon.

Studio Backlot Tour

Ride the tour tram past the costuming department. See vehicles and props from Disney movies. Travel down Residential Street to see houses from Splash Too, The Golden Girls and Empty Nest. Thrill to the excitement of Catastrophe Canyon. Some of these things you can still do but Residential Street is long gone.
