Ride the tour tram past the costuming department. See vehicles and props from Disney movies. Travel down Residential Street to see houses from Splash Too, The Golden Girls and Empty Nest. Thrill to the excitement of Catastrophe Canyon. Some of these things you can still do but Residential Street is long gone.

My friends and I went on my birthday last year. We saw the costume shop and Catastrophe Canyon. As you said, no residential street. That looks impressive and very believable.
