That's A Wrap
It's been far too long since my last post and I'm here today to say goodbye to the last remaining opening day attraction from what was then the Disney-MGM Studios or today's Disney's Hollywood Studios. Of course today is also the final day for Epcot's Universe of Energy aka Ellen's Energy Adventure but that's a different post. Both attractions do have similarities. Foremost of these similarities are their large ride vehicles enabling both attractions to have very large hourly capacities. Sadly, this capacity has been underutilized by Disney for years. Both have large ride vehicles that hold a large number of guests. Finally, both attractions have long a long ride duration. During my time working at the Disney-MGM Studios in the mid-nineties, I had the pleasure to pick up some shifts as a greeter at the Great Movie Ride a number of times. I enjoyed my small amount of time there and am happy to have been a part of it's history. As the days of large scale attractions with animatronic figures seems to draw to a close, I lament that we will probably never see such ambitious attractions as these ever again.
