The Mystery Of The Girl Next Door

Today would have been Annette Funicello's 71st birthday so I thought I would share something not related to the parks.  In the 1960's Whitman published a series of Annette mysteries.  As far as I have been able to determine there are five books in the series and I've got all of them.  In addition to those I have a novelization of the Misadventures of Merlin Jones.  All six books are shown below.

Crowded Asian Alleys & Marketplaces

What could make the Asia section of Animal Kingdome seem even more real?  How about streets so clogged with people you can hardly move.  I really love Asia and while the layout of the land makes it seem expansive and really transports you, it also causes serious traffic flow problems as there is no flow to the land at all.

 

 

Tiki Shrug And His Pals

A variety of tikis and signs from the Polynesian Village Resort.

These tiki totems are in the Great Ceremonial House behind the stairs.

The lovely Tangaroa Terrace which still sits closed.  I had a lovely breakfast here in June 1995.

 

Sadly located near Luau Cove where there used to be beautiful white sand beach stretching all the way to the Grand Floridian.  Now with the Wedding Pavilion and Grand Floridian DVC expansion there is no beach left.
