Wilderness Lodge

I can't believe it's been sixteen years since the opening of the beautiful Wildernss Lodge resort.  Both of these items are from before the resort officially opened.  I know that I got the button at a cast member preview and I probably picked up the brochure at the same time.

EPCOT Main Entrance Plaza

Here are a couple of pictures of the Main Entrance Plaza at EPCOT.  The first couple of pictures are newer while the last three date back to about 1986-1989.

I miss the prism topper on this fountain.  It just seems odd and naked without it.  And note the absence of those monolithic monstrosities that shoot up out of the ground now with people faces engraved on them.

Tower of Terror Commemorative Ticket

Before the opening of the Tower of Terror, like many big openings before, Disney sold a commemorative ticket.  This "ticket" included some artwork and a voucher to redeem for a One Day/One Park Ticket.  It also included a Tower of Terror digital watch which came in a felt bag with Disney-MGM Studios on it in gold lettering.  The watch has a lenticular face at one angle showing the tower and at the other angle showing the elevator car plummeting.

Ernest Saves Christmas House

When the park first opened, this house from Residential Street was special because as the tour tram passed, Herbie would race down the driveway and rear up on his hind wheels to greet guests.  At some point Herbie was removed (probably due to maintenance issues).  The house was later used in the Jim Varney movie Ernest Saves Christmas.
